The entire process of intrauterine insemination, from the initial consultation to the insemination procedure itself, typically takes around two to four weeks. However, the duration may vary based on individual factors and the specific treatment plan recommended by your fertility specialist.

Your fertility specialist will advise you on the appropriate time to take a pregnancy test following intrauterine insemination. Typically, it’s recommended to wait for about two weeks after the insemination procedure to allow sufficient time for the pregnancy hormone (hCG) to be detectable in your system.  A blood test is recommended to provide a definitive result as home pregnancy tests occasionally can give false positives or negatives.

Intrauterine insemination may not be effective if both fallopian tubes are completely blocked. The sperm would not be able to reach the egg for fertilization. In such cases, your fertility specialist may recommend alternative treatments, such as IVF, which bypasses the fallopian tubes.
