Are Car Airbags Safe in Pregnancy?

Airbags are safe in cars during Pregnancy if wearing your seat belt properly (National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) as long as you position yourself as far back in the seat as possible away from the air bag.  This applies to if in the driving seat or passenger.    This will allow room for the bag to expand without compressing the tummy on impact.   If driving tilt the steering wheel up slightly and if able to position further away then do this.

See our FAQ on seat belt positioning in Pregnancy.
