9 Weeks

Your Baby

Your baby is now the size of a blueberry measuring about 9.5mm (0.37 inches) from Head to Rump and weighs around 1.1g.

Tiny buds will sprout which will become your baby’s Arms and Legs.  They look more like paddles at the moment.  Baby’s Heart has now developed it’s 4 chambers and the heart beat will become more regular rather than a random thump.  The Face is starting to make its debut.  Tiny eyes still in their early stages resembling darkened spots, little ear holes and a mini button nose and cute mouth starting to develop.

The Brain will be having a bit of a growth spurt and the Spinal Cord is forming.  Then there is the Liver gearing itself up to be the unsung hero responsible for blood cell production and their Pituitary Gland will be starting to produce hormones that influence their growth and development.

Your Body

You may be feeling a little short of breath as your diaphragm starts to raise getting ready for the expanding uterus.  If feeling like you are suffering more from Nausea and Vomiting at this point the 9 week time is usually when this peaks.
