Seek Help From Your Doctor If Notice Any Of The Following Symptoms

There are a number of issues that can arise after giving birth.  If you are uncertain about a symptom please reach out to your health care provider but here are a few key issues that you should see your doctor:

  1. Heavy vaginal bleeding that soaks more than one pad per hour or vaginal bleeding that increases each day instead of decreasing.
  2. Passing large clots (bigger than a quarter).
  3. Chills and/or a fever of more than 38°C /100.4°F.
  4. Fainting or dizziness.
  5. Changes to your vision or a severe persistent headache.
  6. Painful urination or difficulty urinating.
  7. Vaginal discharge with a strong/fishy odour.
  8. Heart palpitations, chest pain or difficulty breathing.
  9. Vomiting.
  10. Incision from C-section or episiotomy is red, weepy (with pus), or swollen.
  11. Abdominal (lower belly) pain that is getting worse or new abdominal pain.
  12. Pain in your legs with swelling & or redness.
  13. Painful breasts that are red, hot to touch and with fever.
